Dee Range Project, Queensland

The Dee Range Project is located 20km south west of the historic mining town, Mt Morgan which lies about 30km south west of the regional city of Rockhampton.  The sealed Burnett Highway traverses EPM 16057 and local roads provide reasonable access to much of the tenement.

In 1886, the Mount Morgan Gold Milling Company was formed to work the Mt Morgan mine.  Initially only gold was produced, but copper production began in 1902 following its discovery in the lower workings.  The Mount Morgan gold copper deposit has produced more gold than any other deposit in eastern Australia to date.

A total of 50 million tonnes of ore was treated at the Mount Morgan operation which averaged 5.9 g/t of gold and 0.7% copper and yielded approximately 8 million ounces of gold and over 400,000 tonnes of copper.

In 1965, Mount Morgan Limited was granted Authority to Prospect 302 over the Dee Range southwest of Mount Morgan.  Regional geological mapping covered most of the area, with some detailed investigation of the old Dee copper mine.  Copper mineralisation is widespread throughout the area, as fissure fillings at the Dee copper mine and as disseminations adjacent to the south east margin of the Kyle Mohr Intrusive Complex.

The Dee copper mine was discovered in the late 19th century.  A small amount of ore was mined from underground and smelted at Mount Morgan.  There has only been limited exploration drilling in the area to date.

Proposed Exploration Programme and Budget

The Dee Range EPMA covers an aeromagnetic anomaly interpreted to have potential for buried caldera related Mt Morgan style gold-copper mineralisation and also intrusion related gold mineralisation.

Proposed exploration includes geological and geochemical data analysis and followed by soil sampling and RC drilling.

Proposed Budget – Dee Range Project

The budgets for the first and second years’ exploration, assuming full subscription
